Spencer's blues roots

run deep

Vocalist and harmonica player Spencer Jarrett plays a hard-driving blend of blues, originals, and old school R&B.

An accomplished musician at age 12, Spencer honed his musical craft in Chicago, New York and Columbus, backing up a veritable “Who’s Who” of the blues world – including Otis Rush, Big Mama Thornton, Mighty Joe Young, Wilbert Harrison and Papa John Creach.

When not playing festivals and clubs, Spencer performs with the legendary gospel groups The Spiritual Messengers (8-year member) and The Gospel Travelers (20-year member), sharing billing with renowned groups including The Mighty Clouds of Joy and The Canton Spirituals. Spencer and The Gospel Travelers were the subject of a PBS documentary.
